Brownie's Third Lung Recalls Air Compressors Due to Drowning Hazard
The air compressor's components can fail, which could cause a stoppage of air flow. This poses a risk of drowning to users.


Target Recalls Dive Sticks Due to Impalement Hazard
The recalled dive sticks could remain in an upright position, posing an impalement hazard to young children. CPSC banned pre-weighted dive sticks in 2001.


Children's Hooded Jackets with Drawstrings Recalled by R&D International Due to Strangulation Hazard
The jackets have drawstrings through the hood and at the waist. Children can get entangled in the drawstrings that can catch on playground equipment, fences or tree branches.


GE Recalls to Inspect and Repair Wall Ovens Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
The extreme heat used in the self-clean cycle can escape, if the wall oven door is removed and incorrectly re-attached by the installer or the consumer. This can pose a fire and burn hazard to consumers.


Lithium-Ion Batteries Used with Bicycle Lights Recalled By DiNotte Lighting Due to Burn Hazard
A loose wiring connection and improper venting can cause the battery to overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.


Cobra Electronics Recalls Children's Two-Way Radios with Rechargeable Batteries Due to Chemical Burn Hazard; Sold Exclusively in Toys "R" Us Stores
The rechargeable batteries in the radios can leak electrolyte, posing a chemical burn hazard to consumers.


Swim 'N Score Dive Sticks Recalled by Modell's Due to Risk of Impalement Injury to Children
Children can fall or land on these dive sticks in shallow water and suffer impalement injuries. Eye and other facial injuries are also possible. In April 2001, CPSC banned certain types of dive sticks.


JA-RU Recalls Toy Trains Due To Choking Hazard
The recalled toy contain small parts which can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.


Lighted Showcases Recalled by Seventh Avenue Due to Fire Hazard
The lighted showcase's plug adaptor can overheat and melt the adaptor's plastic housing, posing a fire hazard.


Off-Road Motorcycles Recalled by American Honda Motor Due to Risk of Swing Arm Weld Failure
The weld on the right side of the swing arm can fail, causing the rider to lose control and crash. This could pose a risk of injury or death to riders.


CPSC Clarifies Certification Requirements
On Monday, November 10, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a final rule by unanimous vote, addressing the conformity certification required for consumer products subject to safety rules under CPSC jurisdiction. The Commission addressed three major issues: 1) who should supply the certificate; 2) how the certificate can be filed; and 3) CPSC enforcement of general certification.


Shop CPSC Toy Safety Tips Before Shopping for Holiday Gifts
The holidays are here and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has its list. Parents and gift buyers are encouraged to check it twice. Today, CPSC issued its annual holiday safety messages, joined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Safe Kids Worldwide, to remind parents to be diligent when making holiday shopping choices.
